Gale Force was established because the relevance of marine weather routing services has perhaps never been greater, as increasingly more attention is rightfully directed towards safe passage, cost savings and reductions of CO2 emissions.

The company has its headquarters in Norrköping, Sweden, with a team set-up encompassing a collective 30+ years of experience from international shipping, marine meteorology, naval architecture, and technological development.

Gale Force’s technological platform is built on the system source code and performance engine developed over the past decades by the Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (SMHI).

Gale Force has the ambition to lift the product portfolio to the next level. The first step has already been taken by moving all systems to a cloud platform to ensure scalability in addition to a stable and secure infrastructure to build on.

Gale Force is committed to continue to develop the platform and to further enhance the overall quality of the service. We very much look forward to continuing the journey that SMHI has started and developed for over 50 years. The importance of ensuring a safe passage of the ship, crew and cargo with an increasing focus of time and fuel savings is our driver. And the future viability of efficient weather routing services are as we see it undisputable, not the least given the ESG commitments that the international shipping industry has made, e.g., in terms of reduction of CO2 emissions.

Master Mariner with over 30 years’ experience from various positions in international shipping, both from sea and onshore. Commercial and proactive oriented shipping manager with broad international experience from fleet/vessel operations, hub & port agency, business development, sales, weather routing and vessel navigation.

Anna-Helena Hultberg – Head of Operations & Client Services

Marine Meteorologist with over 16 years experience from Weather Routing business. Has been working with weather routing in different roles – operations, team leader, project leader and business architect (product development).

Marcus Sandbacka – Head of Product Management

Naval Architect with more than 10 years’ experience from Weather Routing business working with weather routing system and product development including sales support. Has extensive in-depth knowledge of all our systems and products
